Welcome to myinsideart

by Maria Carbonetti

I would like to acknowledge that Myinsideart is located on the traditional, ancestral, unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations on which as an uninvited settler, I have the privilege of living and working today. May my words and actions express not only appreciation but allyship.”

I am a dancer, a certified Expressive Arts Therapist that works with the combination of expressive dance and movement, somatic approaches and the arts. I integrate elements from different disciplines that I have studied and explored, such as Dance Movement Therapy approaches, LMA, Danzaterapia (Maria Fux Method) as well as Dance for PD and Therapeutic Touch. I truly believe in the connection of body and mind for unleashing creativity and imagination, to find answers, resources and to explore and fulfill our needs. Myinsideart, for individuals and groups, is a safe space to imagine, create, move/dance, write, paint, and reflect within your own possibilities and desires in the presence of a compassionate witness. My work focuses on the inherent capacity of the imagination and the expressive self to create change, honoring the connection between the physical, the mental and the spiritual present in everyone’s journey.

body inquiry

Body inquiry is an experiential process that goes beyond traditional verbal dialogue through a range of transformative somatic practices and expressive improvisation. It is intimately connected to the notion of embodied learning and researching as a method. When we engage our bodies in the pursuit of knowledge and understanding, we access a different repertoire of resources to delve into any question, theme or creative pursuit.

expressive dance and movement

Disconnection between mind and body is often a result of our multitasking life and leaves our soul lost in translation. Can we initiate a gentle dialogue between body and soul? Can we hear what our body has to say? Can the soul speak through our bodies? Can our mind be present but not dominant?

expressive arts

Art making offers through imagination a multimodal tool for empowerment and enables the person to ask questions, to find answers and to recognize his/ her needs. Art making also helps to find creative responses not only to particular situations but to changes and transitions (internal/developmental and external) in life.

private practice

I am willing to provide support and space, time and resources for allowing explorations and dialogue between the different aspects of the self. During the session the imagination through embodiment, self expression and imagery is invited so to be part of the healing process, and to honor it.

workshops

My workshops are about letting the dialogue begin by befriending our body, giving our soul space to speak through art-making and movement/dance. We give space to our creativity exploring different themes and unleashing the power of the imagination in a safe space for self-growth and awareness. Group work fosters at the same time joyful play and a sense of community for mutual support and healing.
